These chairs are among the most developed of their type in America during the late 1st quarter/early second quarter of the 19th century.  Note the side supports; how they sweep to the front legs, these chairs are heavy and substantial in construction.  Note the rear legs and the way they extend, the raised seat and the strikingly figured mahogany all speak to the classical motif of the time, and its revival.

Height: 33 in.  Seat Height: 17 in.
