A Fine Walnut Queen Anne Lowboy with Stocking Feet Philadelphia, c.1760
This lowboy is composed of fine, dense, heavy island (Cuban) mahogany and has a solidness with a finely sculptured and traditional base skirt, all of which is supported on beautifully sculpted Queen Anne legs with stocking feet. Note the strong dovetails and the southern yellow pine sides. This is traditional good Philadelphia work.
The top has a noticable overhang and the sides have a sculpted drop pendant similar to the front. The brasses are appropriate 18th century replacements.
