An Outstanding Walnut Chippendale Card table with Full Drawer and Claw and Ball Feet, Philadelphia, c.1780

This is a robust card table if there ever was one.  The walnut is full size and the swing leg attachment to the case is twice as thick as normally found (see underside image below).  The wood has a beautiful walnut feeling with nicely striped top.  Also of note is that all finished sides of the case are composed of superior solid walnut, making it very heavy.  Of note is the finely refined shaping of the leg and feet which is beautifully sprung with elegant, masterful claw and ball form.  The latter are exceptional, because generally, these tables have straight legs that are often cuffed at the bottom (a Marlboro leg).   Further, this table retains its original bale pulls.   It is a superlative table with no repairs or alterations, and is very rare to find in the claw and ball version.  (For an example of the base typically found, see our walnut Pembroke table sw01798.)
