A Magnificent Mahogany George III Console Table / Telescopic Reading Table, c.1790

Scroll down for 7 more photos

This table has a solid mahogany top of magnificent swirled figuring.   While closed, it can certainly function as a server, console table, or library table.  The neat feature of this piece is that the front pulls out and has a well defined writing surface that gives it a wonderful dual function.   Note that the legs of the roll out section have small inset wheels underneath to facilitate movement.

Flanking the writing drawer are additional drawers.   The legs are molded and formed and quite substantial in size. This piece is quite heavy, and very robust.  It is in first class condition, with no repairs or alterations.

We have french polished it so that the beauty of the figured wood is revealed.   The brasses are period examples.

Height: 30 in. Length: 43 in.  Depth: 24 1/4 in. - 42 1/4 in.
