A Figured Maple Chippendale High Chest with Bracket Feet, Rhode Island, c.1780
This is a typical Rhode Island form, and with all chestnut secondary, points to Rhode Island or possibly Southern Connecticut on its border. The configuration of drawers is desirable with each slightly smaller than the other. The wood is highly figured, and one can see some tiger maple peeking through. (See top cornice molding.) The feet and the entire chest are original and have a nice high lift to the case. The color is a deep amber, and retains a nice patina.
