A Red Painted Walnut Slant Lid Standing Desk, probably Pennsylvania, c.1840

Scroll down for 6 more photos

This red painted stand up desk is in original condition with a rich oxidized red paint over solid walnut.   This desk was made to last, as its structure is tennoned and pinned throughout.  The legs are nicely turned in the Sheraton manner.  This desk is of a very desirable small width (30 in).  The interior drawers are all original, as are the pulls, lock, etc.  Desks that are as “clean” with no issues, having had a cared-for existence and retaining all its original surface, do not come around very often, especially in a small size.

Stand up desks have become quite fashionable, we imagine, for somebody always on the go (even Stanley Weiss has his own “standing workstation”.)
