A George III, Chippendale Mahogany Library Chair, c.1800
This chair is a classic example of the form, and highly sought after. Note the splay of the rear legs (see image) and the wide lift to the arm supports… it’s a very classy chair. The legs are molded as is the arm support and the wood is heavy Santo Domingo mahogany. It is in perfect condition with no breaks or alterations although the wood evidences its age.
It has been completely reupholstered in a celadon silk damask which is virtually new. The upholstery is of museum quality.
