A Fine Queen Anne Walnut Mirror, England, c.1720

This is a very compelling mirror of great depth and beauty.   It is of mid-size.  The walnut has a rich, old tone with shrinkage cracks running up and down its gilt border.  If the wood is of the period, than this is what to expect, and one test of legitimacy as far as we’re concerned.  It retains its original pierced gilt foliate medallion.   The backboard is original and the glass is an old replacement or may be original.
