We fully stripped this chair as we want to assure ourselves and our clients of the purity of the original frame and legs. With that said, this chair is a beautifully modeled chair of the form, with dramatically raked rear legs, (see the profile image below). Note the sleekness of the wings and the rear legs, almost like a racehorse ready to take off. This is not a clumsy chair; the early treatment of the arms and the magnificent claw and ball feet with carved knees, make this a successful and valuable piece of furniture. The chair has been completely reupholstered. We also want to note the difference between an American “copy” of the English form (which typically sells for a six figure price) as compared to a fine English example such as ours (see scan below).
