A Magnificent Classical Brass and Carved Mahogany Pole Screen with Hudson River View, probably Boston, Vose or Contemporary of Equal Rank, c.1825

This is the finest Classical screen we have encountered.  The carving is simply the best.  Note how the leaves are sculpted and undercut, all of which is refined to a marble-like surface on the choicest of Cuban mahogany.   The brass pole is finely cast to a degree not ordinarily found.    It bears its original oil painting, which we believe is a Hudson Valley scene which is mounted on American pine.

In the world of classical furniture, this is a masterpiece.
