Six Phyfe style Classical Lyre Chairs, 1920s, ex Burden Family via Schuyler G. Chapin

This set of chairs with two armchairs are exact duplicates of the period chairs they were made to complement en suite. They were made for the Burdens, a famous New York society family comingled with the Vanderbilt line, etc. The complete set descended through Schuyler G. Chpain, general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, cultural affairs commissioner of New York City, and dean of the school of arts at Columbia University.
