This reeded four post bed is very delicate and slender in form. It is typical to find plain rear posts and pine headboard, as these elements were meant to be covered with fabric, thus not exposed. This is an early Hepplewhite form with the tapered posts at the bottom. It retains all of its original components and has metal brackets added later to accept a modern box spring. Canopies are rare and desirable, and this bed has such with its original turned finials.
