A Chippendale Roundabout Corner Chair, Probably Newport, c.1780
This corner chair is in old surface and has a very rich look to it, as it has been in a left-alone state for quite a while. This chair came out of a Newport estate. Related examples of somewhat similar form are illustrated in Harbor & Home, Brock Jobe, and Historic Deerfield, Dean Fales. The hearts on the backsplat are quite desirable, and are seen in other earlier seating furniture.
