A George III Painted Satinwood Work/Sewing Table, 3rd Quarter, 19th Century
This is a wonderfully designed work table, the lid with a finely painted central medallion, bordered by a floral decoration which similarly embellishes all prominent finished surfaces. The tapered spade feet are pure Hepplewhite, and the drawer is interestingly concave, and opens to a sectioned interior. Tables of this type are very delicate, although the bottom leg supports make this piece stronger than it appears and are why this table has hung together as tightly as it has; it is in a perfect state of preservation.
