An Early Chippendale Diminutive Chest, Walnut, c.1760
This early chest has the so-called "lowboy" top typical of early chests, especially of small size. Here, the chest is only 30 in. wide, which is as small as they ever get. Of particular interest is the magnificently figured walnut, which is what all these early walnut pieces are about. The brasses are probably original and period, and this chest is in a fine state of preservation.
