A Classical Mahogany Worktable Attributed to Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, c.1830

This famous, well documented table employs a pedestal base which was used by Anthony Quervelle and is the trademark of his work.  A nearly identical example bearing a Quervelle label is illustrated in Antiques Magazine August 1973 (see scan below).  Another is illustrated in American Cabinetmakers by William C. Ketchum, Jr. as well as other sources. The upper case has a beautiful matched veneer top with rosewood crossbanding.
