A Mahogany Chippendale Pole Screen with Original Period Needlework on Claw and Ball Feet, England, c.1780

This stand exhibits strongly carved claw and ball feet of good size.  While we feel this is probably English, Newport also produced the squared carved knee with similar plinth.   The baluster column is nicely formed.  Of note is that the tapestry appears to have a name under the handle at the top: "Elizabeth Booth(?)".  Aside from a little staining at the lower left corner, which is de minimis, the needlepoint is in excellent condition.
