A Hepplewhite style Armchair of the Slover & Taylor Form, c.1890
At the end of the 19th century, a number of New York cabinet shops were making fine copies of a style that was popular earlier in the century. Often, to add to old sets already in use. Aside from this chair, we additionally have a settee of this form, which is very desirable and useful in a hallway, etc. (see sw01257) These forms are extremely delicate yet strong and have the beautiful reeded columns at the back.
