A Figured Maple 5-drawer Chippendale Chest, Providence, c.1760, attributed to Grinnell Rawson

Scroll down for 7 more photos

This is a small-scale 5-graduated-drawer chest, typical of the work coming out of the Rawson shop in Providence. The shaping of the bracket feet is their signature and this example shows the beautiful dovetailing on the feet as well as on the chest top. Also, note the underneath of the chest, which is in fine untouched condition. The feet have excellent height and the general piece has a wonderful warm glow, which has been polished over through the years.
