A Regency/ late Sheraton Mahogany Chamber Writing-Table, Attributed to Gillows, England, c. 1810

This table is often associated with a legislator's table, which it could easily be (or perhaps was). What makes this table quite interesting is, aside from the large service drawer, there is a hinged flap, which opens to a fitted compartment. Below is a conforming apron with a long drawer that has single cock beading. The corners of the case have applied molded rectangular reserves and sit atop ring-turned, reeded, and tapered legs with ball feet and casters.
The top is a beautifully figured solid slab of mahogany, which is finished with a reeded edge, which compliments the tapered reeded columnar legs. Gillows was a famous high end cabinet shop in England. For a related example, see scan below for a 2004 Christies's auction listing.
