This is a fairly standard Rhode Island form with straight pad feet, the legs of which are pegged into the skirt, and the old scrubbed top similarly pegged from the top onto the frame. The oval form of the tavern table was probably the most popular, and this one has a nice old scrubbed top evidencing many years of use and care. They were very strongly built and meant to last, as is our example, which has no alterations or repairs, but shows the gentle use of many years.
