An Inlaid Mahogany Classical Hepplewhite Card Table, Portsmouth, 1800-1810
This is a particularly fine example exhibiting the bells and whistles of the style. Specifically, note the inlaid legs bellflowers on the legs with line inlay running vertically through to the inlaid cuffs which are augmented with ebony inlay. The shape of the card table is quite ambitious with a bowfront inlaid with an oval and accented with line inlay, and flanked by corners that are canted with very interesting oval inlays of alternating ebony and satinwood.
