An Inlaid Federal Mahogany Tilt-top Table with Lunette Molding, Boston, c.1810
This tilt-top table is a typical federal form with tiger maple and rosewood banding at the edges. It has a beautiful flame birch inlay surrounded by lunette molding typical of what was used in the New England and particularly Boston area. It has its original catch, and an old surface on all, with the exception of the top, which has been polished over the years.
