A Carved Mahogany Brass Mounted Empire Dressing Bureau, Boston, c.1830
Sizewise, this small scale (38 ½ in. wide) dressing bureau, is quite desirable, as they are usually much wider. The cabinetry is of the finest order (see detail of dovetailing) and it retains its magnificent first brasses. It has an old dry surface and the mahogany veneers are of the finest caliber. Note the magnificent carving on the small scale acanthus carved paw feet. Also, the locks are first class and are stamped "E. Robinson & Co./Boston".
