The latter part of the 19th century saw many levels of quality in Chinese export goods coming to America…not all are of great quality. In fact, most aren't, as the focus was to a mass-consuming audience. This pair is of the best rank. Please take a moment and view the quality of the carving at each close-up focal point. It doesn't get any better. Also, this pair has a very unusual shaped top with marble insert. The marble here is in perfect condition. It is difficult to find singles of this quality, and as a pair, they are absolutely special. Decoratively, they give an outstanding presence. These stands are in perfect condition with no repairs or alterations.
