This marble top table with its original Egyptian marble is truly a rare find with its concave apron and elaborately carved acanthus vasiform column, all of which is supported on strong acanthus carved hairy paw feet, also retaining its original castors. What could be better than having such a magnificent form and additionally having it signed by its retailer and/or maker? This piece is signed beneath the marble by J. G. Russel and Allen, who operated a furniture, chair and feather shop, which is referred to in Winterthur Library's digital manuscripts of Boston cabinetmakers of the early 19th century.
