A Mahogany Dishtop Candlestand with Compressed Ball, Philadelphia, c.1780

Scroll down for 4 more photos

This table is a typical Philadelphia candlestand with the desired compressed ball. The entire table has a first surface with only the top being waxed. It has that dark grunge look that is highly sought-after. We note two small finely-matched inset patches on the top (see image). This table has a beautiful form and surface with the feeling of a well-cared-for 200-year-old table, and the dishtop gives it that special feature many candlestands lack.

Height: 28 1/2 in. Diameter: 20 1/2 in.
