A Carved Mahogany Federal, Classical Card Table, Salem, c.1820

This card table has solid one-board leaves of beautifully figured mahogany, all of which has been French polished and reveals a warm amber glow. The apron is concave, of figured mahogany, all of which is supported on a beautifully carved center column resting above a small round plinth with ring carving. The saber legs graciously roll over the plinth and are carved with acanthus and finished with their original reeded discs.
