A Classical/Federal Figured Mahogany with Brass Inlay Lyre Card Table, Boston, c.1810

This card table is one of the best double lyre card table forms, having an open airy feeling due to a replica lyre in the rear in lieu of the usual solid lyre, and which makes these quite delicate, and thereforequite scarce. Please note the double-sided line inlay on the legs, which characteristic dot and small lyre mounts at the ends. Of note, on our table is that the top boards are not veneered in the New York style, but are of solid mahogany, and they are magnificently striped and of heavy stock.
