A Rare Inlaid Mahogany Stand-up Desk, c.1815, New England, estate of Wayne Pratt

This is an intriguing desk with a number of interesting features. Before going into the mechanics, one should note that it almost has a server's height, and is quite functional in that mode. The edges of the top are line-inlaid with satinwood, as are the legs, and the framing around faux-front drawers, which are further embellished with quarter-round inlays and a magnificent eagle and Masonic inlay in the center.
