A Mahogany Chippendale Card Table, Philadelphia c.1780

This is a typical Philadelphia card table type which was made with several variations. Unlike our other Philadelphia card table, this example never had corner brackets and is a more restrained yet fine table. For example, the gadrooning below the apron, although less pronounced than the other example, is actually a bit more detailed in execution. These tables characteristically have Marlborough legs, which lend a very solid feeling to the table.
