A Mahogany and Tiger Maple Federal Portsmouth Sofa, Late 19th Century

This is a fine and interesting second period sofa of the famous Portsmouth sofas of 1810. We have stripped the sofa, and as noted from the frame, it has had many reupholsterings. We believe it is a centennial done at the end of the 19th century. We have reupholstered this sofa with a fine appropriate fabric. With the contrasting tiger maple and mahogany, this is a beautiful sofa which is also complemented with finely reeded arms and legs, all of which make a very elegant statement.
