A Classical, Federal Mahogany Breakfast Table with Reeded and Acanthus Carved Saber Legs, New York, c. 1810
This breakfast table has a vigorously striped solid mahogany top which is reeded at its edge. The column has a turned urn and supported by four saber legs, which have fine acanthus carving. Note that the acanthus carving is undercut and of the best quality. The feet terminate in Classical brass paw casters and the top tilts up with a traditional locking mechanism.
