A Large Classical Carved Mahogany Phyfe style Recamier, probably New York, c.1890

This recamier is of large size and is somewhat larger than the period original, c.1810. While made probably by a New York Shop like Hagan Brothers, it has all of the period attributes. Please note the fine carving on the crest rail and the large rosette terminal at the end of the sofa. This recamier has been recently reupholstered with a fine heavy brocade fabric, so reupholstering is not necessary. It is extremely commodious and comfortable.
