An inlaid Mahogany Sheraton Sideboard, probably Rhode Island, Rawson school, c.1810

Over the years, this sideboard has developed a beautiful glow to its figured mahogany. This is quite evident in the large central drawer, which is flanked by end doors. The top edge and other areas are very finely inlaid showing a very refined approach in its embellishment. The top edge molding is similar to those used by the Rawsons, Providence cabinetmakers, as is the raised panel edge used on the sides of the piece as well as the central doors.
