A Classical Carved Mahogany Tilt-top Table with Acanthus Carved Legs, probably New York, c.1810

This tilt-top table has a beautifully shaped top with notched corners of beautifully figured mahogany. All is supported on a ring turned base with vase above delicately splayed legs resting on ball feet, which is carved fully with acanthus leaves. This table is very delicate and light yet fully embellished with little details such as the delicate notching at the base of the main column indicative of attention to detail and fineness of execution.
