This Hepplewhite form employs inlay for decoration and this desk certainly fills the bill here. Note, the beautiful line inlay and bellflowers in the leg, the urn in the prospect door, and other inlays throughout. This was a very popular form in the first quarter of the 19th century, and many variants were produced. Click here to see a similar example illustrated in Sack's Good, Better, Best. Also note the writing surface created when the desk is opened.
