A Cherrywood Chippendale Pembroke Table with Cross Stretchers, probably Connecticut, c.1800
This small scale Pembroke table is supported by traditional molded legs which are further reinforced with shaped cross-stretchers. Solid cherrywood is used throughout this pieces, and over time, has turned a golden nut-brown color. The cross stretchers are all original, and this piece is in a fine state of preservation, with its original brass pull. It is an upscale provincial example of a popular formal form.
