A Classical / Empire Mahogany Card Table with Bird’s Eye Maple Lyre, American, c.1840

This is a card table with magnificent woods. Please look at this close up and note the vibrant bird’s eye maple as it relates to the crotch mahogany on the base. The table is supported with a scroll foot accented with rosettes, as is the lyre, and the plinth decorated with a gadroon molding. The apron is a serpentine apron and the top is composed of solid mahogany construction.
