Classical Mahogany and Bird’s Eye Maple Card Table, Boston, c.1815

This card table is one of a small grouping of tables produced in Boston and is the only one we know of with bird’s eye maple insets. It should be pointed out that the Lyre strings are ebony inlays and exemplify some of the finest craftsmanship of the period. A related table in this grouping is illustrated in the Levy Catalog, vol. VI. This is a rare table of which the bird’s eye maple has taken on a very warm glow and would be a treasure in any collection.
