Classical Mahogany Carved Tester Bed, Salem , c.1825

This bed is a tour de force and exemplifies what the four poster bed is all about. The columns are mighty and substantial. They are beautifully tapered and exude an elegant and strong image. They are all of single mahogany unjoined stock. Note that the acanthus carving on the posts have a star-punched background indicative of Salem work.
