Carved Mahogany Lyre Side Chair, probably Hagen Shop, c. 1890

This chair is in perfect condition and a very close copy of the period phyfe chair. Often, the Hagen shop made extra chairs for people who needed to complete sets, etc. Attached, please find a scan of a period Phyfe chair from the Pell family of New York and Rhode Island, and compare. If we didn’t know it wasn’t period, we certainly would feel it was period. The wood has a dark and dense quality, also like it’s period example.
