Diminutive Hepplewhite Tiger Maple Pembroke Table, Newport, c.1790- 1800

This table employs characteristics associated with Newport work, i.e. it has the Newport “floating” top, a top which is bracketed to the apron of the table, which allows imperceptible movement and flexibility to avoid any shrinkage cracking, a very clever engineering design. Also, the top edges of the table are chamfered on the underside, giving a more elegant silhouette.
