Block & Shell Newport Chippendale style Secretary Desk, c.1870

This secretary is an antique in its own right and a copy of one of the less than dozen Newport Blockfronts made in the last quarter of the 18th century, and considered by many the finest Chippendale furniture. Indeed, the highest price paid for a secretary, $12MM, was for one of these secretaries and most, if not all, are in public institutions.
