Mahogany Chippendale Chair with Claw and Ball Feet, New York, c.1780

This classic chair has the traditional owl eye splat supported with a crest rail which terminates in delicate scrolls. The chair has gadrooning on the front seat rail and indicates its New York origin as does the strongly carved claw and ball foot with the classic New York “box-like” style. This is a good-sized chair of heavy weight with no repairs or alterations. The slip out seat frame is also original.
