Chippendale style Block Front Bureau, Boston, by Kaplan, 1920
This is a superb example of modern craftsmanship in the traditional style. This block front form is probably the most sought after American furniture style. The sides, drawerfronts, and top here are all composed of fine solid mahogany and the form is extremely accurate, i.e., the beautifully sculpted cabriole bracket feet. The brasses are the first and this chest bears the Kaplan furniture nameplate.
