A Mahogany Chippendale Four-drawer Chest, Boston, c.1790-1800

This chest has a beautiful amber glow with wood that has aged through the centuries and reveals excellent depth. Quarter columns are unusual on New England pieces, often seen in Southern, Philadelphia work, with the exception being Connecticut chests. We feel this chest is probably Boston on the basis of a related Bracket foot on a documented piece in the MFA.
