A Classical Mahogany Washstand, possibly Providence, c.1835-40, attributed to S. and J. Rawson, Jr.

This washstand is in superb condition and finely executed.  Note the dovetailing of the back splat to its upper sides (see enlargement).   Except for the crotch grained veneer drawer front, the exterior is all composed of the solid.  The possible attribution to Providence is from a related labeled example in The Museum of the American China Trade, Milton, MA (note below, our comparison of both).
