Mahogany Chippendale Fretwork Mirror, New England, c.1760
This is a classic example of the scalloped mahogany mirror typical in New England during this time period. According to Edgar Miller, in American Antique Furniture, this mirror was produced “for almost a century, as late as 1800”. He notes that they all have a small gilded molding as this one does. It also has a line inlay around the mirror and is in superb condition.
