Announcement!  This item will be available at auction from Neal Auction Company on January 26th, 2019.  Preview exhibition is currently underway.  Click here to see our listings at nealauction.com.

This table is related to a grouping of furniture with Philadelphia origin and related pieces can be seen in our collection. See sw00363 for a pair of card tables. See sw00365 for a (now sold) worktable.

The mahogany tops are all of dense single board stock. The apron is of figured mahogany with a beaded edge, and central carved foliate panel. The central columns for each pedestal are truly exceptional, each being fully carved with overleaf acanthus leaves that are very life-like, an exceptional carver was obviously involved in the shop that made this table, note, no detail was spared in these columns as even the base collars are also fully carved. The plinth base is supported by carved paw feet that are, again, individualistic in style and special.

These are a wonderful pair of tables that when set individually against a wall, for serving, etc., are impressive and make a striking statement as a pair. Tables of this quality are rare and these are in superb condition.

Each Table:  Height: 29 3/4 in.  Width: 46 in.  Depth: 23 in.
Combined Table:  Height: 29 3/4 in.  Width: 46 in.  Length: 92 in.
